Who are True Israel of God ?
Common Question asked by most Dispentionalists.....
Distinction between Israel from Church .
Church was a “ððŠð ð¡ðððŠ” an unrevealed truth, non-existent entity in OT. Eph 3:1-7
Answer:
The Word “ðð²ð¬ððð«ð²” Does Not Mean “ðð§ð€ð§ðšð°ð§” But “ððšð° Revealed”ð®ð§ðððð¢ð§ðð
- Ephesians 3:5 says the mystery “was not made known to the sons of men in other generations, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.”
- ð The Greek phrase “hÅs nyn” ("as now") indicates progressive revelation, not complete absence.
- Paul never said the Church did not exist in God's plan before, only that its full nature (Jew-Gentile unity in Christ) was not fully understood before Christ.
- Colossians 1:26 – “The mystery hidden for ages... but now revealed to his saints.”
- ➡️ The mystery was present but hidden, not absent or unplanned.
The Old Testament Did Foresee Gentile Inclusion
- Isaiah 49:6 – “I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”
- Isaiah 2:2-4, Micah 4:1-2 – Nations will come to the mountain of the Lord to learn His ways.
- Hosea 1:10 / 2:23 – God will call those who are “not My people” as “My people.”
- Paul quotes this directly in Romans 9:25-26, applying it to Gentiles in the Church!
- ð§ Logical Point: If the Church (made of Jews and Gentiles) was totally unknown, why did the OT repeatedly say Gentiles would be part of God’s people?
One People of God Throughout Redemptive History
- Romans 11:17-24 – Gentiles are not a new tree but are grafted into the existing olive tree, which already had Jewish branches.
- Paul doesn't say: “You are a new tree called the Church.”
- He says: “You are grafted into the same tree (Israel’s faithful remnant).”
- ➡️ There is one covenant people of God—Israel fulfilled in Christ, expanded to include believing Gentiles.
- Galatians 3:7,29 – “If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”
- Not a different promise. Not a different people. The same!
New Testament Equates Believing Israel and the Church
- Galatians 6:16 – Paul calls the Church “the Israel of God.”
- This is the only time Paul uses the word “Israel” in a spiritual sense and applies it to the Church.
- 1 Peter 2:9-10 – Peter describes the Church using OT titles for Israel:
- “Chosen race, royal priesthood, holy nation, a people for His possession.”
- He quotes Exodus 19:6 (spoken to Israel) and Hosea—now applied to believers in Christ.
- ð§ Rational Point: Why would the Apostles apply Israel’s covenantal titles to Gentile believers if they were part of a totally new and distinct entity?\
Jesus’ Own Ministry Laid the Foundation for the Church—ððšð a New Plan
- Matthew 16:18 – “I will build my church.”
- Not “a” church, but “my” Church, based on faith in Him as the Messiah.
- The 12 Apostles were Jews and Jesus told them:
- “You will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel” (Matt. 19:28).
- That’s not replacement. That’s continuity between Old Israel and New Covenant Israel.
- Hebrews 11 – OT saints (Abraham, Moses, David) are included in the same faith journey and promise as NT believers.
- Hebrews 11:39-40:
- “These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.”
✅ Summary :
